Date of the visit: 05-11-2025 to 07-11-2025

CSTEP hosted officials from the West Bengal Pollution Control Board for a two-day visit to its Bengaluru office on 5 and 6 November. The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration and sharing insights on air quality management and clean energy transitions. Researchers presented key tools and studies, including the SAFARI framework, strategies for managing diesel generator and vehicle emissions, and findings from the West Bengal Clean Energy Transition Roadmap 2030. The officials also toured CSTEP’s air quality instrumentation facilities and interacted with Prof Gufran Beig and Prof R Srikanth at NIAS.

The officials were given a tour of the Indi-SET facility and laboratory, where the working principles and operation of advanced monitoring instruments were demonstrated. Following the lab visit, an overview of low-cost sensors, sensor evaluation protocols, and results from previous sensor evaluations was presented. This was followed by a productive discussion on the application of low-cost sensors in developing robust air quality monitoring networks and strategies to address associated challenges.
